NATCHEZ — Services for Luther Byron “LB” Jones Jr., 67, of Natchez, who died Sunday, Jan. 4, 2009, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Holy Family Catholic Church. A Rosary will begin at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. John O’Hallaran officiating.
Burial will follow at the Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home in Bude.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the church.
Mr. Jones was born April 10, 1941, in Crosby, the biological son of Luther and Bertha Cook Jones and raised by Riley and Lizzie Williams. He attended St. Francis High School and was a 1960 graduate of Sadie V. Thompson High School. He was a faithful member of Holy Family Catholic Church; a member of the Adams County Equestrian Board and the Too Hot Too Trot Riding Club. He was a sales representative for 32 years and was employed by Natchez Ford Lincoln Mercury for 16 years where he received Salesman of the Year eight times.
He was preceded in death by his parents and Riley Williams.
Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of nearly 30 years, Alice Marshall Jones; his mother who raised him, Lizzie Williams of Natchez; godmother, Janie L. Johnson of Natchez; three sons, Wendell Jones and Randall Jones, both of San Jose, Calif., and James Jones of Atlanta; one daughter, Barbara Moore and husband, Anthony, both of College Station, Texas; godson, Jeremy White of Natchez; three brothers, Ernest Jones and wife, Pauline, both of Pelahatchie, Willie McCullen and James Jones and wife, Debra, all of Kansas City, Mo.; five sisters, Ollie Mae Harper and husband, Earl, both of Morton, Rosa L. Weathers of Kansas City, Patricia Mitchell and husband, Eddie, and Peggy Ann Jones, all of Byram, and Marilyn Adams and husband, Dave, both of Burton; 20 grandchildren; special friends, Sidney Gibson, Robert Johnson and his Natchez Ford family; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
