If you weren’t awake and churning into 2009 already, a cold snap probably did the trick this week.

But low temperatures weren’t the only news of the week worth remembering.

Let’s review some of the good headlines from last week.

4 First Baptist Church in Vidalia had a blood drive Wednesday night, and several teenagers were in line to save a life. We all know the importance of donating blood, but we don’t all have the guts to do it. These teens are great gutsy role models for the rest of us.

4 The Vidalia Chamber of Commerce honored local stars this week at its annual dinner. Joey Martin, Ryan Paul and Tim Herndon were among the honorees. We thank the chamber for recognizing good work, and we thank the honorees for their continued community service.

4 As if Natchez wasn’t dramatic enough, swarms of teenagers filled our streets this weekend for a statewide theater conference. We are happy this group chose our city, and we are proud of the work Natchez Little Theatre did to bring the conference here.

The coming week brings plenty of national news with the inauguration of Barack Obama. And we know our local community will produce plenty great news of its own.
