JENA, La. — Services for William James “Doodle” Ezell, 82, of Jena, who died Friday, Jan. 23, 2009, at LaSalle General Hospital in Jena, were Monday, Jan. 26, 2009, at Hixson Brothers Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Curtis Smith and the Rev. Johnnie Phillips officiating.
Burial followed at the Jena Cemetery under the direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home in Jena.
Mr. Ezell was born March 29, 1926, the son of Thomas Nute and Axie Ezell. He was employed by the oil field industry.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Myrtis Ezell; second wife, Floy; his parents; one daughter, Diane Tarver; one great-granddaughter, Mallory St. Romain; five brothers, Pete, Clark. J.L., Otha and A.G.; and two sisters, Myrtle Bird and Peggy Keene.
Survivors include his wife, Annie Ruth Ezell; one son, J.W. Ezell and wife, Sandi; four daughters, Jean Bell and husband, Jerry, Rose Smith and husband, Curtis, Sherry Russell and husband, Pat, and Melinda Strange and husband, Blake; four stepdaughters, Vicki, Kathy, Ruty and Rhonda; 14 grandchildren, Dau Aun Tarver, Candi and Steve Gartner, Shayne and Annie Smith, Johnathan and Betty Smith, James C. and Erica Fussell, Shelly and Nathan Swilley, Kristen Ezell, Christopher Ezell and Luke Strange; 13 great-grandchildren, Tyler Tarver, Matthew and Nathan Gartner, Sierra Marie and Tyler Boyd Smith, Emily Rose Smith, Gerald, Sean and Chris Zingraf, Kaitlyn, Laken and Sean Fussell and Brody St. Romaine; seven step-great-grandchildren, Katie, Elizabeth, Colton, Scott, Rebecca, Kevin and Ella; and a number of nieces, nephews and friends.
Pallbearers will be Shayne Smith, James C. Fussell, Tyler Tarver, Christopher Ezell, Dustin Keene and Johnathan Smith.
Honorary pallbearers will be Pat Fussell, Jerry Bell, Blake Strange, Steve Gartner, Wayne Davis and Norman Walker.
