DOUGLASSVILLE, Texas — Services for Silas Kelly Jr., 83, of Douglassville, Texas, who died Thursday, Jan. 22, 2009, in Texarkana, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Spring Hill Baptist Church, in Douglassville, with the Rev. J.V. Jackson and the Rev. James Boyce officiating.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Haynes Mortuary, Inc., in Texarkana, Texas.
Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Mr. Kelly was born June 15, 1925, in Natchez. He attended Spring Hill Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Navy.
Survivors include his wife, Operine Kelly; one son, Harold J. Barber of Texarkana; two daughters, Connie Olive and husband, Merv, both of Fredrickburg, Va., and Karolya K. Pace of Grand Prairie, Texas; four granddaughters, Michelle, Kiesha, Kala and Brittany; three great-grandsons, Alex, Shean and Liam; one sister, Helen Winding; one niece, Elizabeth Williams, both of Natchez; and one sister-in-law, Helen McCoy of Texarkana.
