FERRIDAY — Services for Prentiss Newbill Sr., 53, of Ferriday, who died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2009, at his residence from injuries sustained in a house fire, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Rufus Baptist Church with the Rev. Michael Reed officiating.
Burial will be 11 a.m. Monday at the Natchez National Cemetery under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Newbill was born Jan. 7, 1956, in Ferriday, the son of Walter and Gertrude Spillman Newbill. He was employed as a bee farmer and was a U.S. Army veteran.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Jerry Newbill.
Survivors include his wife, Theresa Hall Newbill; one son, Prentiss Newbill Jr.; four daughters, Angelisa N. Hawkins and husband, James, Darlene Newbill, Tracey Newbill and Keashonda Newbill; one brother, Walter Newbill Jr.; two godchildren, Jakeress and Jakydrick Hawkins, all of Ferriday; one godsister, Jackie Schiele of Wildsville, La.; and four grandchildren.
