Former mayor wants to reclaim office

JACKSON (AP) — Former Jackson Mayor Harvey Johnson Jr. has announced his intent to reclaim the office.

Johnson said Saturday that he will run for election this year. The two-term mayor lost his job to Mayor Frank Melton in 2005.

Since leaving office, Johnson has worked at Jackson State University. He is the executive director of the Center for University-Based Development.
