Wilmoth Fayette

HAMMOND, La. — Wilmoth Crutchfield “Willie” Fayette, 86, died peacefully Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2009, at Belle Maison Nursing Home in Hammond. A private memorial service will be at a later date.
Mrs. Fayette was born Aug. 1, 1922, in Natchez, the daughter of Cletus L. and Hilda Crutchfield.
Mrs. Fayette was a talented typist and stenographer. She was a court reporter early in her career and held many secretarial positions including the Commanding Officer’s secretary at the Eight Naval District in Algiers, La., for over 25 years.
Mrs. Fayette was an active member of the Churches of Christ in New Orleans and in Natchez.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Alton F. Fayette; three brothers, Leo Crutchfield, Clint Crutchfield and Tommy Crutchfield; and two sisters, Mary Virginia Crutchfield and Amy Willard.
Survivors include one daughter, Lynne McCorkle and husband, Danny, both of El Paso, Ark.; one son, Christopher Fayette and wife, Cindi of Ponchatoula, La.; three grandchildren, Megan Watts and husband, Barry, Brandon Fayette and Corey Fayette; one great-grandson, Isaac Watts; and two sisters, Etha Kidder and Jean Fuqua.
The family expresses thanks to the staff of Belle Maison Nursing Home for the loving are Mrs. Fayette received and for the help and support of St. Joseph Hospice.
