Critics: Proposed voter ID bill too weak

JACKSON (AP) — A bill advancing in the Mississippi Legislature would expand early voting and require voters to show identification at the polls.
The bill passed the House Elections Committee on Tuesday and is expected to come up for a vote of the full House by next week.
Critics say the ID requirement is weak because people could show identification with or without a photo.
Supporters say the plan addresses concerns that a photo ID requirement could disenfranchise anybody without a driver’s license.
