NATCHEZ — A California man was hospitalized Sunday after his throat was cut with a broken bottle in a bar fight.

The Adams County Sheriff Office responded to the call at 11:24 p.m. at the Steel Horse Saloon, 266 Highland Blvd.

When the deputy arrived at the scene, he found Dominic Bertalotto, 21, of Oakdale, Calif., in front of the bar’s door while someone held a towel over his throat, according to reports at the ACSO.

Bertalotto reportedly sustained a cut of approximately 4 inches long, 2 inches wide and 1.5 inches deep on the left side of his throat, reports said.

Witnesses said that Bertalotto and another subject had gotten into a verbal altercation, and when the other subject left the bar Bertalotto followed him outside, reports said.

At this point, the other subject’s girlfriend, Jessica Jones, 28, 306 Briarwood Road, Apartment 12, allegedly struck Bertalotto in the head with a bottle, which reportedly shattered and then sliced his throat, reports said.

Bertalotto was transported to University Medical Center in Jackson.

No arrest has been made at this time, but if Bertalotto chooses to file charges against Jones it will be for aggravated assault, Sheriff Ronny Brown said.
