NATCHEZ — County attorney Bobby Cox said he expects to hear a verbal opinion from the attorney general’s office today about the law governing Economic Development Authority funding.
The board of supervisors requested an interpretation of the EDA legislation after they voted to cease funding the authority. The legislation says funding must be set prior to the start of the fiscal year in October.
The attorney general’s office said Thursday morning that they had not received a written request for an opinion from Adams County.
Cox said the official written request was not made because he didn’t believe it was necessary.
