4 Vidalia Junior High School is a Blue Ribbon School nominee. The title goes to a select group of schools across the country that are achieving academically. VJHS is a great school with wonderful students and staff, and whether they end up with a blue ribbon or not, we know the school is tops in our area.

4 Enrollment is on the rise at Copiah-Lincoln Community College, and the Natchez campus is ready to accommodate. The college may have to spend frugally, but we are happy Co-Lin is here to serve our community.

4 Members of the Mayor’s Youth Council in Natchez spent a portion of last weekend collecting items for the local Guardian Shelter. The group was collecting household items, clothing and toys for children. Donations to the Guardian Shelter can be made at P.O. Box 1225, Natchez, MS 39120, or by calling 601-442-0142.

4 The Boys & Girls Club of the Miss-Lou recently received a $25,000 grant from the charitable arm of “American Idol.” The money will allow the clubs to continue operating. These clubs are essential to our community, and we thank those involved for their dedication to our children.

With so many bright futures in the area, the week and months to come are sure to bring more good news.
