NATCHEZ — The Black History month parade is set to roll Saturday.

Led by Alcorn State University President George Ross as the grand marshal, the parade will begin at 3 p.m.

The route will start at Main Street, will turn on Commerce Street, head to Franklin Street and will end at Franklin Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Street.

Parade organizer Darrell White said he is still getting commitments for people to be in the parade.

“That part I’m still sorting out,” he said. “I’m still waiting for all the responses and applications to come in.”

The theme for this year’s parade is “The Torch Has Been Passed,” which White said plays somewhat into President Obama.

“Everybody is being encouraged to come and support the celebration of black history,” White said.
