Norma Stringer

JONESVILLE — Services for Norma Louise Stringer, who died Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2009, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Grace Baptist Church, in Jonesville, with the Rev. Perry Gardner officiating.
Burial will follow at the Old Pine Hill Cemetery, in Leland, La., under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home in Jonesville.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the church.
Miss Stringer was born Sept. 4, 1924, in Wisner, La., the daughter of Walter Williams Stringer and Norma Keenan Stringer. She was a graduate of Sicily Island High School, Mississippi State University School of Nursing, earned a bachelor of arts degree in chemistry at Louisiana College and a bachelor of science degree in nursing at Northwestern State University at Nachitoches. She also attended the Baptist Theological Seminary in New Orleans.
Miss Stringer worked as a registered nurse and retired from the Veterans Administration Nursing Service at Asheville, N.C., in 1989.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Bobby Joe, Walter Jr., and Donald Stringer; and one sister, Nedra Rucker.
Survivors include two brothers, Markum and Robert Stringer; and three sisters, Rheba Boyd, Joel Paulk and Nancy Stringer. She was a beloved aunt to a number of nephews and nieces.
Pallbearers will be nephews, Richard L. Stringer, Thomas Paulk, Walter R. Stringer, Brandon Stringer, Matthew Blair and Cody Bailey.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jake Phillips, Patrick McQuilling, Thomas Duffy and Bill Wilson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Grace Baptist Church mission fund or to a favorite mission.
