NATCHEZ — Zeta Delta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. is planning a celebration in honor of its founders in a special service on Sunday at Christian Hope Baptist Church, 301 LaSalle St.
“Since 1908, the sisterhood of Alpha Kappa Alpha has responded to the world’s increasing complexity,” chapter reporter Dorothy Marsalis said. “It continues to empower communities through exemplary service initiatives and progressive programs.”
Marsalis said the sorority reached a milestone last year, and the future is bright.
“The fact that we became the first African-American sorority to reach its 100-year milestone in January 2008 is a testament to the power, vision and commitment of our founders,” she said. “That is why this program is so important to the members and why the members want very much to share this celebration with others.”
All organizations — civic, professional, social and religious — are invited to come out and share in the vision as the sorority reflects on why it has endured and prospered through 10 decades and one year.
The theme is: “Reflecting on the Past, Celebrating the Present and Charting the Course of the Future.”
This celebration will begin promptly at 2 p.m., and the keynote speaker will be Dr. Juanita Sims-Doty, Southeastern Regional Director for Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. For more information, please contact Ora N. Frazier, president of Zeta Delta Omega Chapter of
