Franklin County pitchers toss no-hitter in win over Bogue Chitto

MEADVILLE — Franklin County pitchers Destiny Dedeaux and Kacey Smith combined on a no-hitter as the Lady Dawgs defeated the Bogue Chitto Lady Bobcats 2-1 Tuesday night.
Dedeaux, the winning pitcher, struck out four and waked one in five innings and Smith pitched the final two innings in relief to pick up the save.
Franklin County (4-1) scored both of its runs in the bottom of the first inning. Smith got things started with a double and scored on an RBI double by Morgan Knapp. Knapp then scored when Taylor Stewart grounded out to first base. Smith was the only multiple hitter for the Lady Dawgs as she went 2-for-3.
Bogue Chitto scored its only run in the top of the fifth on an error, an overthrow to first base and a passed ball.
Franklin County hosts Cathedral on Thursday with the junior varsity game at 5:30 p.m. and the varsity game at 7 p.m.
Monterey 10, Avoyelles Charter 0
MONTEREY, La. — Holli Clay gave up just one hit and struck out four in three innings as the Monterey Lady Wolves routed the Avoyelles Charter Lady Vikings in four innings Tuesday afternoon.
Led by Ariel Hector and Casey White, Monterey (3-1) exploded for five runs in the bottom of the first inning and four more in the bottom of the third. The Lady Wolves 10-run ruled the Lady Vikings with one run in the bottom of the fourth. Hector and White each went 2-for-3 with a double.
