NATCHEZ — If a telemarketer calls and asks for money in order to fund a child’s wish, they are not affiliated with the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Several reports of telemarketers are pandering to Mississippi residents for donations have been reported.

“There are a number of other sound-alike organizations — some also with ‘wish’ in their names. The Make-A-Wish Foundation has no affiliation with any other wish-granting organization,” a recent Make-A-Wish foundation press release states.

The press release states that Make-A-Wish does not engage telemarketers to raise money for the organization, and it has a policy against door-to-door soliciting.

“If you receive a call from someone asking for a donation, ask the caller to send you more information,” reads the press release.
