Local group to clean up Memorial Park

Published 12:00 am Friday, March 6, 2009

Each year during the month of March, the Great American Cleanup project is sponsored by Keep America Beautiful.

Our local chapter, officially known as Keep Natchez/Adams County Beautiful, has chosen Memorial Park as a location for work from 8 to noon this Saturday.

Not only is Memorial Park a focal point for Natchez, but it provides a venue for many activities throughout the year, especially during spring when events are popular along with Spring Pilgrimage. It is also the place chosen to honor those who have served in the Armed Forces from the surrounding area.

We will be working in conjunction with the Downtown Development Association. There will be a job for everyone, so bring your rakes, brooms, sweep pans and blowers. Trash bags will be provided.

Most of the work to be done is cleanup, spruce-up and general cleaning.

No heavy labor is involved and people of all ages are welcomed. The park is off the street and a safe work location.

We look forward to as many people as possible helping us to showcase our beautiful Memorial Park to those who will be visiting our town as well as local citizens.
