NATCHEZ — A Friday evening accident did not lead to a fatality as originally reported on The Natchez Democrat Web site. The accident that happened at the corner of Canal Street and John R. Junkin Drive in Natchez involved only moderate injuries. Initial reports about the accident contained incorrect information.
At approximately 10:33 p.m., Ernest Orcutt of Lorman was executing a left turn off of Canal Street onto John R. Junkin Drive east when a westbound vehicle on John R. Junkin Drive, driven by Victoria Loomis of Ferriday, entered the intersection and struck Orcutt’s vehicle, Natchez Police Sgt. Gary Nations said.
Orcutt and a passenger were spared injuries, and though Loomis sustained moderate injuries she was able to walk to the ambulance when it arrived on the scene, Nations said.
A witness on the scene reportedly told police Orcutt had a green light at the time of the accident, Nations said.
