NATCHEZ — Services for Marie Johnson Reed, 77, of Natchez, who died Monday, March 2, 2009, at her residence, will be at 11 a.m. today at Zion Hill No. 1 Baptist Church with the Rev. Joe W. Pickett officiating.
Burial will follow at Pine Hill Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home in Bude.
Visitation will be until service time today at church.
Mrs. Reed was born Aug. 11, 1931, in Elcone, La., the daughter of Napoleon Johnson Sr. and Margaret James Johnson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Isiah Reed; her parents; two brothers, Napoleon Johnson Jr. and Alexander Johnson; one sister, Alberta Carter; one son-in-law, Caleb Galtney III; one great-granddaughter, Miracle Galtney; and one great-grandson, Keith Ross Galtney Jr.
Survivors include five daughters, Carrie Davis and husband, Willie, Margaret Galtney, Theresa Davis and companion, Warren, and Roshantieir Reed, all of Natchez, and Kamisha Reed of Newport News; two stepdaughters, Azarine Martin and Ruby Wimley, both of Natchez; three stepsons, Isiah Reed Jr. and wife, Lisa, and Carl Reed, all of New Orleans, and Al Briscoe Reed and wife, Gwen, both of Atlanta; one sister, Mary Brown and husband, George; four brothers, Roosevelt Johnson and wife, Diane, and Willie Johnson, all of Natchez, Robert Johnson and Leonard Johnson and wife, Ann, all of New Orleans; special cousin, Adell Jackson; special friend, Myra Bruce; 25 grandchildren; and a number of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
