Accelerated reading goal getters have celebration

WOODVILLE — The Rev. Henry Shelton, retired Catholic priest from Tupelo, presented the devotion for grades K – 12 on Wednesday, March 4. He instructed the students to get their affirmation from God as Jesus did at His baptism.
Several students recenlty reached their reading goals and were given a party during the third marking period.
The following students were rewarded with a party on Thursday; first-grade, Maggie Cavin and Lexi Netterville; second-grade, Slade Foil; third-grade, Cullin Hendry, Samuel Jones, Gabrielle Lyons and AnnaClaire Ryan; fourth-grade, Sawyer Foil, Cole Gardner, Chelsea Netterville, Mary Smith Overby and Shawn Perry; fifth-grade, Katelyn Bell, Austin Hendry, Jamie Lewis, Thomas Perry and Makenzie Tarver and sixth-grade, Amadeus Jones.
Kindergarten students through seventh graders will be taking the Stanford Achievement Tests on March 16 through March 20.
Students that have perfect attendance during testing week will receive rewards.
Parents are encouraged to have students come every day, be on time and do their best.
It is important to get a good night’s rest and eat a healthy breakfast ever day before taking tests.

March 16 — WCCA baseball will play at Huntington at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.
March 17 — Tennis will play at home against Tallulah at 3 p.m.
March 17 — Baseball will play at home against Tallulah at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.
