Tire plant workers to gather again

Published 11:07 pm Wednesday, March 11, 2009

I drove by the front entrance of the old tire plant a few days ago, and my mind went back to the days of yesteryear.

I, along with many others, would go back and forth through this entrance as we made a living for our families.

It is now quiet, and the buildings, like many of us, are showing signs of aging.

On Saturday, March 21, we will again invite all the hourly and salary employees, their spouses, and any widows and widowers to get together at the Natchez Shrine Club.

The club is located at 229 Morgantown Road in Natchez.

Due to the lack of facilities for children, they are not able to be included.

The format will be similar to previous years.

Come around 10 a.m. and bring a covered dish. At approximately noon, we will all have a meal together.

We also ask that you please bring a $5 donation to pay for the building, drinks and supplies.

So mark your calendar, come on out and see a lot of old working friends.

We will share a lot of stories and talk of old memories, one more time.

Hope to see you there!
