WOODVILLE — Services for Mattie Odessa “Ma-Ma” Jackson-Poole, 75, of Natchez, who died Friday, March 6, 2009, in Waggaman, La., will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Kingsford Baptist Church in Woodville.
Burial will follow at Swinney Town Cemetery, in Woodville, under the direction of Davis Mortuary in Marrero, La.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at New Home Missionary Baptist Church, 1616 Carondelet St., in New Orleans, 504-529-1326, and Saturday from 8 to 11 a.m. at Curtis Funeral Home, 112 E. Franklin St.
Mrs. Poole was born May 20, 1933, in Wilkinson County, the daughter of David Jackson Sr. and Mary Jackson.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 23 years, Herbert Poole Sr.; her parents; one daughter; two brothers; one sister; one stepdaughter; two stepsons; and one great-grandson.
Survivors include four daughters, Patricia Harden of Houston, Texas, Mary Chollette and husband, Stanley, both of Waggaman, Susan Haley of Baker, La., and Carol Jones and husband, Christopher, both of Warner Robins, Ga.; three sons, Eddie Haley of New Orleans, Charles Haley and wife, Carolyn, both of St. Francisville, La., and Walter Haley Sr. and wife, Angela, both of Marrero; four stepsons, Herbert Poole Jr. and wife, Denise, both of Woodville, Walter Poole and wife, Glenda, Henry Poole and Fred Poole, all of New Orleans; one sister-in-law, JoAnn Brown of Woodville; seven special friends, Geraldine King, Bertha Speaks, Estelle Johnson, Ruby James, JoEllen Singleton, Emma Jean Bell and Josephine Blanton, all of Natchez; 30 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be sons, stepsons and sons-in-law.
Honorary pallbearers will be grandchildren.
