Rain postpones baseball games

NATCHEZ — Even though the rain that fell off and on between last Thursday morning and early Monday morning was much-needed, it has forced more area baseball games that were scheduled for Monday to be either postponed or canceled altogether.
The only game involving local/area teams that was postponed was the MPSA District 6-A match-up between Wilkinson County Christian Academy and Huntington in Ferriday. That will now take place on Wednesday with the junior varsity game at 5 p.m. and the varsity game at 7 p.m.
Cathedral was scheduled to host North Pike in non-region action Monday night at Chester Willis Field, but that has been canceled and will not be made up.
Vidalia’s home game against Delhi Charter has also been canceled and will not be rescheduled, either, because it is a non-district game. That makes four consecutive Viking games that have been canceled due to rain, after last Friday and Saturday’s games at the 20th annual Vidalia Catfish Classic were canceled due to the inclement weather.
“It amounts to losing four home games,” Hoffpauir said. “Dollar wise, that’s a big blow. And we also need to be playing games, especially with the young team we have. But it’s a battle I’ve been fighting for 30 years.”
Adams County Christian School was supposed to take on Presbyterian Christian School and Central Private School in Day 1 action at the Parklane Academy Spring Break Tournament, but all of Monday’s games were canceled as it was still raining in McComb during the morning hours.
The Rebels are scheduled to take on Columbia Academy at 3 p.m. today and Simpson Academy at 5 p.m., but ACCS head coach Hunter McKeivier was notified by Parklane head coach Michael Clements that today’s game may not take place if the field is not ready.
And that also means that the Centreville Academy junior varsity’s game against Parklane’s JV team at 11 a.m. and the Tigers’ varsity game against Columbia Academy at 1 p.m. may or may not take place.
