VICKSBURG — Services for Susan McBroom “Sue Sue” Sasser, 98, of Vicksburg, who died peacefully in her home Saturday, March 14, 2009, will be at 11 a.m. at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Geoffrey Joyner officiating.
Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home in Vicksburg.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today and from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday with a memorial service to follow, all at the funeral home.
Mrs. Sasser was born March 8, 1911, in Adams County, but lived in Vicksburg much of her life. She attended Oak Ridge High School and was one of seven in the school’s last graduating class and was salutatorian of the class. She was a member of Crawford Street Methodist Church and spent many years working as a seamstress in Vicksburg. Affectionately called Sue Sue by her family and close friends, she spent her latter years traveling and enjoying time with her family.
Mrs. Sasser was preceded in death by her first husband, John G. Tucker; her second husband, Willie Ray Sasser; one son-in-law, James F. Hollowell; one grandson, James M. Hollowell; two brothers; and one sister.
Survivors include one son, John G. “Jack” Tucker and wife, Peggy, both of Hewitt, Texas; one daughter, Martha Hollowell of Vicksburg; one sister, Edith Pearl Hall of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; six grandchildren, John G. Tucker II, Steven F. Tucker, David R. Hollowell, Donald J. Hollowell, John R. Hollowell and Susan L. Hollowell; 13 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be great-grandsons, John G. Tucker III, Gregory R. Hollowell, Daniel L. Hollowell, Eric M. Hollowell, James Tyler Hollowell and James D. Hollowell.
Honorary pallbearers will be Mrs. Sasser’s Sunday school class at Crawford Street Methodist Church, Frank Whitaker, Mike Norton and Bill Curtis.
