VIDALIA — The body of the final fisherman missing since a Feb. 10 boating mishap has been recovered.

The body of Mack Kemp, 27, of Krotz Springs, La., was found and identified Tuesday at the Louisiana Hydroelectric Station in south Concordia Parish, according to a statement from the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office.

The search for Kemp has been ongoing since the accident that claimed his and two other lives after their boats were swamped during a storm.

The men were fishing for shad on the Mississippi River north of the mouth of the Homochitto River at the time of the accident.

Michael Shayne O’Connor, 34, and Nolton Sittig, 31, also died that night, and their bodies were recovered the next day.

A fourth fisherman, Jason Snyder, 27, survived the accident and was rescued on the Mississippi side of the river.

All of the victims were from Krotz Springs.

The CPSO took the lead on the search, and Sheriff Randy Maxwell thanked those who were involved in the search in the statement.

The search included efforts from the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks, the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, the Concordia Parish and Adams County coroner’s offices, several sheriffs departments including Adams County and St. Landry Parish, and private citizens.
