NATCHEZ — On Monday, plans for the revitalized Natchez Christmas will be revealed.
Ginger Hyland, head of the Natchez Christmas committee, said all business and building owners on Main and Franklin streets have been invited to a 5:30 meeting Monday night at the Natchez City Council Chambers.
Hyland kicked off an effort in January to begin planning a Christmas celebration geared around downtown Natchez.
“It takes a lot of time in order to do these projects,” Hyland said.
And in preparation for December, Hyland has been planning a way to get downtown Natchez strung in lights.
“I think it’s pretty exciting,” she said. “We have all kinds of plans in the works, and we’re always ready for more ideas and new ideas.”
And it’s not just about lights, she said. Hyland said she wants different entertainment venues and events to go along with the Christmas celebration.
“This is to help downtown Natchez and all of Natchez to increase tourism in the month of December. It should benefit the whole town,” she said.
So on Monday, Hyland is going to announce the plans among the downtown business owners and get everyone in gear to get started on planning.
“We’re going to unveil the plans and what we’re looking at for how everyone can help and get behind it,” she said.
She said she wants the plan to be a surprise.
The meeting is being put on through the Natchez-Adams Chamber of Commerce.
