Animal cruelty should carry consequences

The report of the burning to death of a pit bull dog made me ill. A person who would commit such a cruel action a helpless animal who is tied to a tree and cannot even run for his life should be removed from society.
Such a person will probably go on to hurt a human being, and poses a danger to society.
The man arrested last week received little more than a fine.
We need to contact our state law makers, and petition them to please update our laws to make animal cruelty a felony. These crimes happen all too often, and nothing is done about it.
While pit bull dogs are certainly dangerous in certain situations, it is man that made them what they are by breeding them to fight. It is tolerated (though our law enforcement fines them when they are caught) in Mississippi and Louisiana. It’s just good old boys being bad at the expense of helpless animals. Instead of banning pit bulls, let’s ban the people who make them vicious!
