NATCHEZ — A local man reported $650 worth of tools as stolen on Sunday.
According to the police report, a four gallon air compressor valued at $250, two leaf blowers valued at $150 and a $250 tool box was stolen from outside the man’s house on Shadow Lane.
Earlier this month, several pieces of lawn equipment were stolen from Miss-Lou landscaping.
While Natchez Police Sgt. Craig Godbold said police have no evidence the two burglaries are connected, it is that time of the year for these kinds of burglaries.
“It’s typical that we get several burglaries like this at the beginning of every summer,” Godbold said.
The best piece of advice Godbold said he could give is to lock up items like leaf blowers, lawn mowers, Weedeaters and other tools.
Also, he said it’s important to mark items and keep a list of the items’ serial numbers.
“A lot of times we’ll find these items abandoned on the side of the road,” he said.
Having the items marked will aid in their return if stolen and then recovered, he said.
Godbold also advised residents to be aware of any suspicious activity in neighborhoods.
“Be active in your neighborhood watch (program),” he said.
