NATCHEZ — ATMs at two branches of Britton & Koontz Bank were not operational for several hours Wednesday afternoon.

Tracetown Assistant Branch Manager Kelvin Luster said computer and phone lines were down, causing difficulties in customer transactions.

This included not being able to use the ATMs and not being able to receive money.

Only deposits could be made, he said.

The St. Catherine Street branch was also down.

B&K President Page Ogden said the issue was not an internal problem caused by the bank.

“Our IT people are totally aware of this situation,” Ogden said. “This can happen to any bank, any business, from time to time. It was momentary, and it did not affect all of our systems. In fact, the majority of them were fully functional.”

Luster said he saw utility trucks working on power lines on D’Evereux Drive and Seargent S. Prentiss Drive Wednesday afternoon.

Power was fully restored to the affected telecommunications and ATMs by 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.
