CCA contract is very good news for area

As far as good news goes, 400 jobs in a bad economy is as good as it gets.
Last week’s news that Corrections Corporation of America had received the needed federal contract means the area will soon see a boon in tax revenues and job openings.
Prisoners will come this summer, and we hope the prison can have a major impact on our local economy.
But last week’s great news wasn’t the only thing stirring in the Miss-Lou.
Let’s review some other good headlines from the week.
4 Beautiful weather welcomed locals and guests alike to this year’s Delta Music Festival in Ferriday. Bands entertained all day and plenty of dancers filled the streets. This annual spring event is always a great one, and we are glad this weekend was a success.
4 A group from the National Underground Railroad Network to Freedom Program met in town last week to consider some regional sites as part of the program. We are happy Natchez and the Forks of the Road can play host to such meetings.
4 Some real criminals may be headed to town sometime soon, but we aren’t worried. In fact, we’ll welcome them. The movie “The Story of Bonnie and Clyde” is slated to film for 15 days in Natchez toward the end of May. Movie production is not only fun for the townspeople, but can bring big bucks to town.
As CCA prepares for prisoners and an upcoming job fair, we know the future is bright in the Miss-Lou.
