VIDALIA — Charges have been filed against a Ridgecrest teen accused of shooting his brother Monday.
The 16-year-old suspect, whose name is being withheld because of his age, has been charged with aggravated battery, according to Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Kathleen Stevens.
The teen was taken into CPSO custody following a mid-afternoon incident at 807 Ferriday Drive in Ridgecrest.
The victim of the incident, the 19-year-old brother of the suspect, sustained a single bullet wound to his left leg, just above the knee.
The elder brother was reportedly shot with a .22-caliber pistol, and was transported to Riverland Medical Center.
After fleeing the scene on foot, the suspect was eventually picked up by the CPSO within a mile of where the shooting happened.
The incident is under investigation.
