Natchez — Xi Alpha Phi sorority member Maria Smilo hosted a Valentine social at her home on Feb. 12 honor the new chapter Valentine sweetheart, Janet Gray. Gray was presented with gifts and a special award.

Following the presentation, a seated dinner was served.

Gray hosted the March meeting at her home on March 12. Prior to the meeting, chapter president Linda Cox presided over a board meeting where plans were made for future chapter functions. A tentative slate of new officers for 2009-2010 was presented for considerations.

During the regular meeting, Carole Cotton, recording secretary read the minutes from the previous meeting. Dana Dent, convention co-chairman collected door prizes which had been brough by members for the upcoming state sorority convention. Xi Alpha Phi will host the 2009 convention at the Country Inn and Suites June 12 – 14.

Chapter member Mary Lee Denton gave a program titled “Relaxing on the River Natchez Style.” During her presentation, she demonstrated unique hand-sewn decorations and asked members for suggestions or ideas for convention decorations.

Members voted to install new officers for 2009-2010 at the April founders’ day banquet.

Member Gwyn Bacot was the hostess for the April meeting.
