NATCHEZ — In two weeks, city and county officials will sit down to get some outside perspective on the Natchez-Adams Economic Development Authority.

EDA Chairman Woody Allen said the Lewis Berger Group, a consulting firm which studied the EDA, will be in town April 21 to present the findings of their study.

Allen said the study, done over approximately a year and a half, outlines areas the city and county should focus on to increase the effectiveness of the EDA.

Improvements to the EDA became a common talking point in January when the Adams County Board of Supervisors cut funding to the groups, citing a lack of economic development coming into the community.

While funding was later restored, both supervisors and members of the Natchez Board of Aldermen have called for changes to be made at the EDA.

Allen said he’s hoping the changes recommended by the Berger Group will help the EDA function more effectively.

“Hopefully some good will come of this,” Allen said.

The meeting will be at 10 a.m. at the Natchez Convention Center.

Members of the Natchez-Adams Chamber of Commerce as well as city and county boards have been invited to attend.
