NATCHEZ — Services for Mary Frances Harrington Jones, 82, of Natchez, who died Easter Sunday, April 12, 2009, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Natchez First Baptist Church with Dr. Doug Broome officiating.
Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. until service time Wednesday at the church.
Mrs. Jones was born Nov. 13, 1926, in Sumrall, the daughter of Warren Franklin Harrington and Bonnie McMullan Harrington. She attended Mississippi Southern College, now the University of Southern Mississippi, and was owner of Kinderland Nursery in Natchez.
She was a long time member of the First Baptist Church and served many years as a Sunday school teacher and in the church nursery. She was also a member of the Natchez Garden Club and loved helping with the Historic Natchez Pageant. She enjoyed working as tour guide at Rosalie and hosting at other homes during Pilgrimage.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 56 years, William Thurston Jones Sr.; two sisters, Beatrice Harrington Gilmore and Lillian Harrington Collins; and one brother, Jack Harrington.
Survivors include three children, Belinda Jones Thompson and husband, J. Samuel Sr., of El Dorado Hills, Calif., William T. Jones Jr. and wife, Kathy Fay, and Dianne Jones Jordan and husband, Kenneth Sr., all of Natchez; six grandchildren, R. Ryan McKinney of Nashville, Tenn., Paige McKinney Normand and husband, Paul, of Hammond, La., William T. Jones III of Clinton, J. Samuel Thompson Jr., and Clark Jones Thompson, both of Atlanta, and Parker Britt Jones of Natchez; one sister, Bessie Harrington Webb of Hattiesburg; three sisters-in-law, Maxine Jones Fulton of Houston, Texas, Winnie Elena Jones Byers of Amarillo, Texas and Frankie J. Freeman of Hattiesburg; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be grandsons.
Honorary pallbearers will be Sam Thompson, Kenneth Jordan, Robert McKinney, Ray Macintosh, Steve Wallace and Jake Wallace.
