MANIFEST, La. — Services for Walter Joe “W.J.” “Dubby” Book, 56, of Jonesville, who died Monday, April 20, 2009, at Lane Regional Medical Center in Zachary, La., will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at New Life Pentecostal Church with the Rev. Norris Poole, the Rev. Junior Trisler, the Rev. Lloyd Trisler, the Rev. Gary Waggoner, the Rev. Barry Hamilton and the Rev. David Poole officiating.
Burial will follow at White Ridge Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home in Jonesville.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 5 p.m. until service time at the church.
Mr. Book was born Oct. 31, 1952, in Harrisonburg, La., the son of Walter Andrew “W.A.” “Dub” Book and Dora Hamilton Book. He was an avid airplane enthusiast and car collector. He loved camping and fishing with his wife, and cooking for friends and family. He never met a stranger and had the ability to light up a room with his presence.
He was preceded in death by his father; paternal grandparents, Walter E. and Delia Briggs Book; and maternal grandparents, Joseph and Ethel Hamilton Tooley.
Survivors include his wife, Kay Book of Jonesville; his mother, Dora, of Manifest; one son, Joey Book of Dundee, Mich.; two daughters, Crystal Charrier and husband, Kent, of Vidalia and Jennifer Renfrow and husband, Ron, of Manifest; five brothers, Randy Book and wife, Deborah, of Columbia, S.C., Gary Book of Sherwood, Ark., Rickey Book of Singapore, Tommy Book and wife, Donna, of Jonesville, and Larry Book and wife, Helen, of Kula Lumpur; two sisters, Linda Doughty and husband, Robert, of Monaca, Pa., and Sue Bains and husband, David, of Mountainbrook, Ala.; three grandsons, Dusty Book, Hunter Renfrow and Nathan Renfrow; four granddaughters, Brittany Charrier, Monica Charrier, Eryn Book and Kailey Renfrow; 18 nieces and nephews; and 15 great-nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Daren Doughty, Scott Doughty, B.J. Book, Jonathan Book, Chris Coleman, Junior Cotten, David Gordon and Robert Cotten.
Honorary pallbearers will be Lawrence Chapman, Bucky Wiley, Tyler Wiley, Pat McCain, Vernon Fletcher, Donald White, Robert Doughty, David Bains, Oshkosh Buddies and Walter King.
