NATCHEZ — Services for Geneva McKinney “Nan” Booker, 100, of Natchez, who died Wednesday, April 28, 2009, at her residence, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Zion Chapel African Methodist Church with the Rev. Birdon Mitchell Jr. officiating.
Burial will follow at the Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Robert D. Mackel and Sons Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. until service time Monday, both at the church.
Mrs. Booker was born Feb. 23, 1909, in Adams County, the daughter of Joseph and Clara McKinney. She was an educator in the Adams County public school system for 44 years. She received her master’s degree in education from Alcorn State University.
Mrs. Booker was an active member of Zion Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church and served on the stewardess board until her death.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Josie McKinney; and four brothers, Joseph Jr., Robert, Charles and Edward McKinney.
Survivors include one daughter, Jean Booker Hunt; five grandchildren, Dernedia Brown and husband, Pearly, Cynamon Williams and husband, Jermi, all of Natchez, Darnell Booker and wife, Angela, of Vicksburg, Joseph Booker and wife, Sherice, and Barnaby White and wife, Chauntelle, of Topeka, Texas; 12 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; two nieces; one great-nephew; a special cousin; one godchild, Katie Anderson; and a number of cousins, other relatives and many friends.
Pallbearers will be members of the family.
