NATCHEZ — Services for Laura Jackson “Book” Thompson, 105, of Natchez, who died Wednesday, April 29, 2009, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Morning Star Baptist Church on Jeanette Road.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home in Bude.
Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
Wake services will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Greater Mount Sinai Baptist Church.
Mrs. Thompson was born Feb. 9, 1904, in Natchez, the daughter of Nat and Katie Robinson Jackson. She was a member of Ruth Chapter No. 3 Order of the Eastern Star, Ladies Auxiliary of the Drayment Porters Club, Missionary Society, Pastor’s Aide Circle and Mothers Board at Morning Star Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Thompson; her parents; three brothers, Leon, Otis and Steve Jackson; two sisters, Carlotta and Edna J. Johnson.
Survivors include two loving daughters, Laura L. Thompson and Shirley Reason and husband, Melvin, all of Natchez; three nieces, Katie J. Moore of Natchez, Eulanda Cameron of Goose Creek, N.C., and Dr. Shirley Bailey Johnson of Miami; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
