The two newly confirmed cases involve students from Cathedral Carmel, the first school closed as part of the state’s precautions to prevent the spread of the virus.

Officials say Friday’s announcement brings to seven the number of cases confirmed in Lafayette Parish and one each in Ascension and Orleans parishes.
