MONTEREY — A late-night boating accident Friday that left a 15-year-old girl dead and seven others injured is still under investigation.
Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Sgt. James Parish said the names of the victims would not be released until the investigation is complete.
Parish said he did not know how long it would take to complete the investigation.
Parish said the accident occurred when two boats, one carrying five passengers, the other carrying six passengers, collided in Horseshoe Lake.
It is still unclear if alcohol played a factor in the accident.
At this time no one involved in the accident is facing any criminal charges, Parish said.
But charges could be coming.
“We’ll know as the investigation continues,” he said.
Parish described the other injures from the accident as “minor.”
