MONTEREY — Services for Robert David Watson, 73, of Monterey, who died Friday, May 8, 2009, in Alexandria, will be at 10 a.m. today at New Era Baptist Church with the Rev. C.D. Beard officiating.
Burial will follow at Dewey Cemetery under the direction of Comer Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Mr. Watson was born Oct. 15, 1935, in Fowler, Colo., the son of George A. and Fern B. Watson. He was a resident of Monterey for 37 years and was a retired truck driver. Mr. Watson was also a member of New Era Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Aileen B. Watson.
Survivors include one son, Robert D. Watson Jr. of Orlando, Fla.; three daughters, Debra Freauff of Pensacola, Fla., Carol Williams of Missouri and Rhea Thorne of Denver, Colo.; three brothers, Thomas Watson of Indian Hills, Colo., Jerry Watson of Pueblo, Colo., and Dick Watson of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Larry Pruitt, Otis Morace, Lane Dale, Bundy Morace, Ronnie Thompson and Jimmy Pruitt Jr.
Honorary pallbearers will be John Twist, Morgan Book, Genie Morace, Dwayne Green, Jody Green and Ed Nichols.
