MONTEREY — Services for Opal Virginia Gallup Wiley, 83, of Monterey, who died Tuesday, May 12, 2009, will be at 10 a.m. today at Monterey First Baptist Church with the Rev. Clyde Grammon and the Rev. Gene Lee officiating.
Burial will follow at Wiley Cemetery in Monterey under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Mrs. Wiley was born Feb. 20, 1926, the daughter of Commodore Dewey Gallup and Flora Montpelier Gallup. She was a homemaker and a member of Monterey First Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bennie Wiley; her parents; one grandson, Darian Bird; and one brother, Alvin Eugene Gallup.
Survivors include one son, Hank Wiley and wife, Norma, of Monterey; three daughters, Juanita Bird and husband, Girault, of Sicily Island, Amy Henslee and husband, Tom, and Nell Blount and husband, Phillip, all of Monterey; two brothers, Jack Gallup of Wisner, La., and Dewey Gallup of Haughton, La.; two sisters, Ruth Wilson and Nila Mount, both of Lismore, La.; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Brent Henslee, John Bird, Vance Cross, Rusty Wiley, Lonnie Geoghegan and Terry Stephens.
Honorary pallbearers will be Randy Henslee, Joshua White and Hunter Wiley.
