NATCHEZ — Services for Josephine Franklin, 53, of Jackson, who died Saturday, May 9, 2009, at St. Dominic Memorial Hospital in Jackson, will be at noon Saturday at Daughters of Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. Dan Alexander officiating.
Burial will follow at Second Union Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Robert D. Mackel and Sons Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from noon to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 11 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
Mrs. Franklin was born June 8, 1955, in Adams County, the son of James Franklin and Clara Ware Franklin. She was a 1973 graduate of North Natchez High School and a graduate of Alcorn State University. She was a Baptist.
She was preceded in death by her father; two brothers, John Franklin and Jessie Franklin; and one sister, Thelma Belton.
Survivors include one daughter, Kiara Franklin of Jackson; one son, Jeffery Franklin Sr. and wife, Ebony, of Memphis, Tenn.; her mother, Clara, of Natchez; four grandchildren, Jeffery Franklin Jr., Jordon Franklin and Jaylin Franklin, all of Memphis, and Kameron Davis of Jackson; one sister, Dorothy Minor and husband, Willie; one brother, Larry Franklin; two aunts, Alberta Selmon and Isabell Gibson; three uncles, Bowser Ware Sr. and wife, Isabell, Ed Ware and wife, Daisy, and Monroe Ware and wife, Sarah; three great-aunts, Beulah Irving and husband, Arthur, and Laura Swazy and husband, Fred, all of Natchez, and Mary Stanton of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be friends of the family.
