HOUMA, La. (AP) — A man found stabbed to death in his home has been identified and police are searching for his roommate to question him in the case.
Police identified the victim as 47-year-old Benito Camacho. A group of the victim’s co-workers went to his house on Monday, found the man’s body and called police. They had reported him missing to the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s office after Camacho failed to show up for work at a sandblasting company three days in a row. He was last seen May 11 at work.
An autopsy shows Camacho died of multiple stab wounds.
Houma Police Lt. Jude McElroy says investigators are looking for Camacho’s roommate, Marcos Roque Vera, who they believe left town in Camacho’s green-and-silver pickup, a 1997 Ford F-150.
The pair apparently met through an area church and had shared a home for about a month.
