SICILY ISLAND — Services for Jimmy Dale Walston, 73, of Sicily Island, who died Thursday, May 21, 2009, at Plantation Manor Nursing Home, in Wisner, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at New Hope Pentecostal Church with the Rev. Chris Hamilton and the Rev. Lesley Brown officiating.
Burial will follow at Highland Park Cemetery in Sicily Island under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the church.
Mr. Walston was born Nov. 14, 1935, in Sicily Island, the son of John Stephens Walston and Goldie Irene Cader Walston. He was the owner and operator of Walston Equipment. Mr. Walston was a member of New Hope Pentecostal Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Lloyd, Willie and J.E. Walston; and two sisters, Ruby Ratcliff and Dale Granger.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Jimmie Lou Spears Walston; one son, Danny Walston and wife, Marcia, of Manifest, La.; one daughter, Janice Walston of Sicily Island; three grandchildren, Jennifer Stelly and husband, King Self, Troy Rush and wife, Ashley, and Garrett Walston; two great-grandchildren, Julia and Nicholas Stelly; three sisters, Mamie Bice of Ferriday, Grace Rodriquez and husband, Johnny, of Metairie, La., and Pat Medina and husband, Tony, of Kenner, La.; and two brothers, Billy Walston and wife, Kay, of Covington, La., and Larry Walston and wife, Martha, of Sicily Island.
Pallbearers will be Troy Rush, Garrett Walston, King Self, Billy Walston Jr., Rodney Mason and Dewayne Guice.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ed Mason, Tony Medina, Johnny Rodriquez and Eddie Lynn Mason.
