West tracts of land facing foreclosure

NATCHEZ — Several parcels of land owned by West Enterprises, whose president is former Natchez Alderman Theodore “Bubber” West, are facing foreclosure.
Of the parcels, two of them include West Funeral Home and the Pine Hill Memorial Cemetery.
A representative with Apex Mortgage Corp., of Pennsylvania, which holds the mortgages on the properties, would not comment on the issue.
Early Friday afternoon West first said he was sure the properties would not be sold in a foreclosure sale, later in the day, under advisement from his attorney, he would not comment on the matter.
And foreclosure issues are not the only issues facing West Funeral Home.
In January the Mississippi Secretary of State’s Office announced it was investigating West, and other funeral homes across the state, for misapplication of pre-need funeral funds.
A representative with the secretary’s office said Friday no hearing dates have been set in that matter.
The foreclosed properties are scheduled to be sold in a public auction May 29.
The funeral home was not open on Friday and the only listed number for it has been disconnected.
