PHILADELPHIA — Services for Sarah Marie Serio Shill, 95, of Philadelphia, formerly of Natchez, who died Saturday, May 23, 2009, in Philadelphia, will be at noon Tuesday at St. Mary Basilica with the Rev. David O’Connor officiating.
Burial will follow in the Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 11 a.m. until service time at the church.
Mrs. Shill was born Aug. 26, 1913, in Waterproof, La., the daughter of John J. and Kathryn E. Serio. She was a longtime member of the Catholic faith and was a loving homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John Walter Shill Sr.; one daughter, Ellen Bailey; one son, Clay Shill; one brother, Frank Serio; and two sisters, Ann Campiere and Elizabeth Weeks.
Survivors include four sons, John Shill and wife Mary of Walterboro, S.C., Francis Shill and wife Jo of Merritt Island, Fla., Danny Shill and wife Ana of Power Springs, Ga., Jimmy Shill and wife Shirley of Prarieville, La.; five daughters, Margaret Williamson of Mendenhall, Donna McCurley and husband Thom of Philadelphia, Barbara Graphia of Baton Rouge, Emily Seale and husband Jackie of Baton Rouge and Helen Lee and husband Billy of Savannah, Ga.; one sister, Kathryn Jackson of Florence; 26 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
