Suspect fires at officer, flees

FERRIDAY — A Ferriday man is wanted for attempted murder after firing on a police officer Tuesday night.
Police are searching for Michael Donnell Haley Jr., 20, 808 Alabama Ave., in connection with the incident.
He is described as a standing at 5-foot-4-inches and weighing 135 pounds.
The incident occurred at approximately 8 p.m. in the Eighth Street area.
Police had received a call a short time before about a subject flashing a weapon in the area, and an officer was about to arrest Haley in connection with the call, Assistant Police Chief Johnny Evans said.
When the officer made a move to arrest Haley, he allegedly pulled away from the officer and began to flee, Evans said.
As he fled with the officer pursuing on foot, Haley allegedly fired several shots at the officer, Evans said.
The incident ended with no injuries, Evans said.
