NATCHEZ — Services for Foy Lee Summers, 81, of Natchez, died Wednesday, May 27, 2009, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 10 a.m. today at Laird Funeral Home Union Street Chapel.
Burial will be at 3 p.m. at Rowley Cemetery in Darbun under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Mr. Summers was born Jan. 31, 1928, in McComb, the son of Zephaniah and Hettie Brumfield Summers.
Mr. Summers served in the U.S. Army in the Korean Conflict. He retried from International Paper Company after 39 years of service. He was a longtime member and deacon of Cliff Temple Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Durene, Eugene, Hardy and Toxie Ed Summers; and one son-in-law, Randall Keith Bradshaw.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Ellen Porter Summers; two sons, Donald Summers and wife, Tracy, of Brandon and Greg Summers of Denham Springs, La.; two daughters, Alita Bradshaw of Albany, La., and Becky Edwards and husband, Allen, of Leland, N.C.; three beloved granddaughters, Haley and Katie Summers and Kasee Bradshaw; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Lee Edward Gillespie, Danny Goldman, George Tarver, Doodle James Smith, John Murray, Dave Upton, Richard Summers and Ziffie Summers.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Cliff Temple Baptist Church.
