NATCHEZ — Services for Maxine Smith Schiele, 71, of Loranger, La., formerly of Natchez and Vidalia, who died Monday, June 1, 2009, at North Oaks Medical Center in Hammond, La., will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Laird Funeral Home Union Street Chapel with the Rev. Leon Zordan Jr. officiating.
Burial will follow at the Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Schiele was born July 15, 1937, in Natchez, the daughter of Dr. Harry Maxwell Smith and Martha Louise Rife Smith. She was raised in Natchez and lived her married life in Vidalia. She was a member of the Huntington School Board and the Concordia Parish Hospital Board.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Lyle “Buddy” Schiele; and her parents.
Survivors include two daughters, Carole Schiele Rice and husband, H. Earl Rice, and Patricia Leigh Schiele, all of Loranger; three sons, Fred Lyle Schiele Jr. of Dallas, Alan Maxwell Schiele and wife, Dana Hoover Schiele, of Baton Rouge and Steven Lowery Schiele II and wife, Holly Guillaume Schiele, of Port Vincent, La.; four grandsons, Edward Lyle Schiele of Dallas, Peyton Arnoux Rice of Loranger, Alan Maxwell Schiele Jr. of Baton Rouge and Callon Catesby Schiele of Port Vincent; and two great-grandchildren, Christopher Lyle Schiele and Kimberly Anthodesmi Schiele.
Pallbearers will be Edward Lyle Schiele, Peyton Arnoux Rice, Alan Maxwell Schiele Jr., Ed Schiele, Neil Hoover, Chase Callon, Cane Callon, Tommy Polk and Callon Catesby Schiele.
Memorials may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
