MONROE (AP) — A 10-month-old girl died Saturday in a car crash in Union Parish.

State Police say 19-year-old Shianne Bilberry of Farmerville lost control of her vehicle while traveling south on Wesley Russell Road, striking a tree.

Bilberry suffered moderate injuries in the crash that seriously injured her daughter, who was airlifted to the LSU Medical Center Shreveport in critical condition.

Authorities say the front seat passenger, 35-year-old Patricia Conville of Farmerville, was holding the child in her lap at the time of the crash.

Conville suffered moderate injuries and another passenger, an 8-year-old female, sustained minor injuries. Both were taken to a hospital.

Shianne Bilberry was given a citation for careless operation, no driver’s license and failure to use a child restraint.
